DICOM Ltd., now Kadant PAAL Limited, was founded in Great Britain in 1981.

Kadant PAAL Limited is a subsidiary of Kadant PAAL Holding GmbH, headquartered in Germany. Kadant PAAL’s primary products include horizontal balers and conveyors to process recyclable materials including paper and plastic, as well as various non-recyclable materials including RDF, waste, and agricultural products. Kadant PAAL GmbH is the leading European manufacturer of auto-tie channel balers and enjoys a truly global presence.

Kadant PAAL Limited, located in Derbyshire in the heart of the UK, designs and manufactures its own range of vertical balers and waste compactors as well as distributing the full range of Kadant PAAL’s auto-tie balers and conveyors.

Additionally, Kadant PAAL Limited has mobile engineers strategically located throughout the United Kingdom offering comprehensive preventative maintenance cover as well as rapid response to any unexpected baler or compactor downtime.

Manufacturing high performance balers for over 150 years

1854	PAAL is founded in Germany as a printing house, which designs balers to manage its paper waste
1906	PAAL concentrates on baler manufacturing
1917	Foundation of FAES
1942	FAES designs its first oil-hydraulic baler for wool compaction
1960	PAAL designs the first continuously operating baler and the first steel wire automatic tying system for horizontal balers
1972	COMDEC is founded in France
1981	DICOM is founded in Great Britain
1993	FAES develops a two ram baler with plastic strap tying system
2002	Creation of PAALGroup comprising PAAL, FAES, DICOM, COMDEC
2004	PAAL releases its new concept of the Dokon balers with PP twine tying system
2010	PAAL manufactures its 30.000th machine
2013	PAAL launches PAC range of semi-automatic, closed-end balers for low volume applications
2016	Kadant acquires the PAALGroup
2017	Kadant expands PAAL's business into North America
